Thursday, May 8, 2025, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at Ethicando Gallery, Viale Luigi Majno n. 38 - 20129 Milan, as part of the series of events entitled INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST, in which an art critic dialogues with a contemporary artist, Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico meets Salento artist Caterina Romano.
Caterina Romano, aka Karo, originally from Lecce, has been producing pictorial works for more than 20 years, the subject of solo exhibitions in various prestigious Italian institutional locations. In 2023 her works are exhibited at the Sala Vetri of the Museo del Risorgimento in Milan as part of an international event entitled SUSTAINABLE ART, with the participation of personalities from the world of institutions, academia and university, culture and art.
As art critic Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico states, “artworks by Caterina Romano express the existential malaise in a contemporary society dominated by the hyper-communication of new media, increasingly unable to bring out and promote human and cultural content, at the mercy of the search for consensus at any cost, ”like/don't like," fertile ground for new planetary conflicts, which configure an uncertain and dark future.
The vivid colors, enveloping themselves in abstract shapes imprinted with movement, constitute the expressive output of an irrepressible creativity, which wants to narrate cultural identity as the starting point of an est-ethical social restyling, harbinger of a sustainable relationship of human beings with themselves and with every animate and inanimate component of the planet. The color yellow is always there, as long as there is life, even if repudiated and mortified by other chromaticisms, namely by contemporary social dramas, unthinkable even a little more than 20 years ago".
The event is sponsored by Betting On Italy and Estro Digitale.
